Sometimes people who are dearest to us are the farthest from us when we most need them. That is one of the ironies of life. Mary is not among the twelve, yet she is the one who goes back to the tomb to look for Jesus after his death. She still mourns him even when it seems the twelve have moved on. Hence she has the privilege of meeting Christ first after his resurrection. There are many reasons why people are attracted and come to us. It may be for the status; it may be because of our fame, or our personality. In the euphoria of all this we must never lose sight of those who befriend us in spite of who we are. They often are the ones that stick to us through thick and thin.
