Prayer Of The Faithful for Sunday, December 8, 2019

Prayer Of The Faithful
Celebrant: Emmanuel – “God is with us.” In joyful hope, then, let us pray:

For the Church and our parish community,
that, in the living out of our own baptism,
we may be heralds of Christ’s coming:
let us pray to the Lord.

For our bishops, priests, and deacons,
and for all who serve the Church,
that they may proclaim
in their ministries of teaching and healing
the coming of God’s kingdom:
let us pray to the Lord.

For those who lead and govern,
that the Lord’s Spirit of wisdom, knowledge, and justice
may rest upon them:
let us pray to the Lord.

For all Christian Churches and faith communities,
that they may glorify God with one heart and one voice:
let us pray to the Lord.

For the poor, the homeless, and the forgotten,
that we may recognize, in them, the person of Christ:
let us pray to the Lord.

For all the faithful who have died,
that Christ will welcome them into his Father’s presence:
let us pray to the Lord.

For the prayers we now make in the silence of our hearts:

Celebrant: Lord God, hear the prayers of your people who anxiously await your coming. Help us to straighten the crooked roads of our lives that we might create a highway for you to enter our homes and hearts with the peace of Christ Jesus, your Son, in whose name we offer you these prayers.
